The Wersal furniture factory manufactures exclusive upholstered recreational furniture. The offer that is contained in three collections will satisfy even the most demanding tastes. The form and style of offered sets connects functionality with design features. The company established in 1989 is currently one of the most dynamically developing recreational furniture manufacturer, that constantly broadens its capabilities, invests in technologies and offers ever growing range of products.
It is already 25 years since Wersal first started in the market. This period saw immense growth. The company started as a small workshop set on owner’s parcel, gradually developing into a large, constantly growing factory. The development started with hard finish and upholstered furniture to specialization in only upholstered sets. What has never changed is the fact that Wersal is a family business, not just because family members are in charge of the company, but also because of its familiar approach to workers that forms the credo of the company.
“We have the new Allcomp line for textile sizing and cutting. The Unicut machines largely increased the production efficiency and made the work easier for our workers. The Allcomp company conducted training of our workers and all of them were introduced, thus able to work efficiently today”.
Igor Karkoszka, Production Manager
As of today the company produces up to 400 models of furniture daily, employing around 500 people. We have orders booked up to 2016 and the company is still in need of new production capabilities. That is why we plan even further development in 2015, in new production facility. New factory is connected with new logistics, new needs and new solutions. “Our sales are based on export to over 20 countries throughout the world. The majority of that, as much as 40%, reaches the German market. We bet on modern technologies, both in woodwork and in upholstery shops. We have a range of CNC type machines. We also have a very modern cutting room, where the whole production line was assembled by the Allcomp Polska company. I can recommend this company. It helped us a lot in cost optimization, when large savings can be made in differences in material cutout, through its optimization.” – stresses Łukasz Kaczorowski – co-owner of the Wersal furniture factory, its sales manager and graduate of the Technical University of Częstochowa.
The Wersal furniture factory stresses the quality, which is constantly confirmed by independent auditors. In order to check the subsequent stages of production and the build quality of furniture, the auditors are entitled to enter the premises in an unrestricted manner, and verify all aspects connected with manufacture and the final product. “I am working in the Wersal furniture factory for 4 years now. I am introducing new furniture, learning the practices of the woodwork, upholstery and sewing divisions. The material savings are currently at a very high level. Prior to introduction of automatic fabric cutting we were placing the physical templates made by us on the fabric. And for a piece of furniture now requiring approximately 13 running meters of material, we used 14.5-15 meters with hand cutting. This concerns a single set. If we take into account how many sets of furniture we manufacture each day we can easily calculate how many running meters of fabric we are saving each day. There is also the time, as what these machines are able to cut in a single day with just a crew – let say of 3 people, could only by hand-cut by 10 to 15 skilled workers. That means we are saving time, and time is money, and since the company is here to bring profits, we are going in the right direction” – says Zenon Lipiński – Designer and Engineer. Main problems the company faces is lack of space for further expansion and increasing production volumes, and the lack of skilled workforce. We experience the shortage of tailors, there are no schools in our vicinity that would educate in this profession, there are not skilled workers available. That is why the company trains its own upholstery professionals, with constant shortages of those, and the need of their continuous education. Wersal offers vocational training with employment guarantee. We secure two fronts with this: enough people to work in our company and stable employment for our workers.
Igor Karkoszka, the production manager and graduate of the University of Life Sciences in Poznań, the Department of Wood Technology says: “In the Wersal company I am concerned with optimization and wood cutting, introduction of new technologies and subsystems. We currently have a new Allcomp line for sizing and cutting of fabrics. The Unicut machinery largely increased production efficiency also making the tasks of our employees a lot easier. The Allcomp company trained our workers, all of them were introduced and work efficiently now”. Still the insufficient number of available workforce is a problem we can’t overcome. Moreover – the need for increasing our competitiveness, improving standards of set finish, introducing the more demanding manufactured construction is inevitably connected with the need to implement innovative time and space-saving solutions, that guarantee precision and repeatability, securing positive evaluation of products by quality checks. Investments in new technologies and their installation at first rose fears among the company and its workers. Still, the implementation was swift and smooth. Today Wersal employees can’t imagine further development of the company without use of new technologies. “I am working at Wersal for 13 years, on the position of technology specialist. My job is to introduce new models in manufacturing. I perform whole range of actions: from using the digitizer, through computer aided processing, nesting for the new product cutout introduction to the cutting machine. After the purchase of the Allcomp cutting line our competitiveness, when compared to other companies rose, as we are now able to produce sets, that would be impossible to manufacture without those machines. There are sets that seem easy to manufacture at first, but require very precise cutting. Contrary to appearances these are very complicated pieces of furniture. We chose the Allcomp company because as it is a Polish supplier, that fears no challenges, and our requirements were really high in relation to the cutters needed in our company” – adds Jarosław Pietrzak – technology specialist.
